Are you missing your campus creative resource? Stay tuned! We are working on ways to engage in creative activities and stay in community. As we get creative with our reimagining of services, you can help shape these programs by contributing your ideas. Please share your thoughts with us on Facebook or Instagram

 

Remote Activities

 While we won't be holding in-person activities for Spring Term 2021, we will have a variety of great events, classes, tool check out boxes, and social media art sharing opportunities available all term! 

Starting October 6, 2020: Current Fee-Paying OSU Student members will be able to check out the following kits for 2 day use: 

  • Watercolor Painting
  • Needle Felting
  • Acrylic Painting
  • Drawing
  • Relief Printing
  • Woodburning
  • Cardmaking
  • Embroidery
  • Sewing (including sewing machine)
  • Shrinky Dink Jewelrymaking
  • Model Magic Small Sculpture
  • Collage
  • Low Fire Handbuilding
  • Low Fire Glazing

We will be adding more throughout Spring Term, please check back for details!

Students will need to sign up for membership prior to checking out a kit. To sign up for membership, please fill out this qualtrics form.

After signing up for membership, you can reserve your kit by reserving through our Bookings Calendar.

The Craft Center has a new satellite space in the Memorial Union.

Kits will NOW be picked up from the Memorial Union, Room 109, on the day of the reservation. Pick up times on Monday - Thursday are from 4:30-7:30 pm, and Friday from 4:30-6.

Kits should be dropped off at the Memorial Union, Room 109 in 2 days between the hours of 2-4 pm.

NEW FOR SPRING TERM!

 

 Fused Glass Magnets with Lacey Prososki! - FREE workshop for fee paying OSU students!
Saturday 4-5pm
May 1

Bring in spring with a new craft! Lacey will lead students through the process of creating fused glass magnets. You will be able to pick up a kit at MU 109 prior to the event, and then return it the following week along with your ready-to-fire creations! Lacey will then fire them in the Craft Center, and you will be able to pick them up at MU 109.

 Acrylics with Lennox Alliston - FREE weekly zoom class for fee paying OSU students!
Thursdays 6:30-8pm
April 15 - May 13

Ready to paint but don’t know where to start? Join graduating BFA student Lennox in this intro to acrylic painting class! It’s free for current fee-paying students, including supplies. Supply kits will be available in the Craft Center MU pod location, room 109, during our regular kit hours. This class runs every Thursday night, at 6:30-8pm, for 5 weeks starting on April 15.

Handbuilding Ceramics with Lucia Yusem and Justin Fasana - FREE weekly zoom class for fee paying OSU students!

Itching to get your fingers in mud again??! Or maybe it's your first time? This class is for you! Learn the basics of handbuilding, from sculpture to slab work to low-fire glazing techniques. This class and supply kit are free for currently enrolled OSU fee paying students. Kits will be available at the OSU Craft Center pod location in the MU, room 109. Sign up ASAP, as spots are limited!

Art with Ange - WATERCOLORS - Weekly Zoom Class
Tuesdays  6:30-8pm
April 6 - May 4

Learn the basics of watercolor painting with OSU Craft Center Assistant Director, Ange Purviance! We will learn how to mix colors, what the heck the difference between hot press and cold press paper is, and how to work with watercolor's unique qualities to get beautiful effects. Mostly, though, we will spend some time together each week moving paint around on a piece of paper while listening to music and chatting here and there. This class and supply kit are free for current OSU fee paying students. Kits will be available at the OSU Craft Center pod location in the MU.

Celebrate Your Art Online

In this time, keep making art, keep crafting, keep doing things that bring you joy and balance. Please share your creations by taking photos of the art/craft projects you've been working on and email them to [email protected] along with your Instagram handle. We would love to post selected projects for all to see and enjoy on our social media! We want to continue to be a place that lifts your spirits.
