Sponsored by the OSU Craft Center, this 2-week, half day camp will have student artists fully engaged  exploring various mediums & techniques. Each day they will rotate between two studios, working with two experienced art teachers. Half of the class day will be spent experiencing 2-D and 3-D art/craft techniques and mediums, drawing inspiration from primitive art, the masters, cubism, pop-art, animation and more! The second half will focus on ceramics techniques that will include: various hand-building methods as well as learning how to throw on the pottery wheel. Functional & sculptural works will be explored. Fun hands-on learning, creative freedom, and lots of projects combine to make great summer memories!

Daily Camp Schedule

  • Artists will check in in at the KidSpirit office and be escorted to the Craft Center.
  • Two groups are planned to keep class sizes small and allow for lots of individual attention.
  • One group will start the morning with ceramics/pottery the other group will begin with 2D and 3D art mediums.
  • Tie dying t-shirt, weather permitting: Smocks will be provided; however we strongly recommend artists dress in clothes/shoes that can get soiled.
  • Artists will head directly to their first rotation studio & sign-in with the instructor.
  • Introductory instructions happen in the first part of the session.
  • Arrival: Please arrive on time! We want the young artists to have as much time as possible to create & work.
  • Break: At 10am the groups will have a short break. Artists may bring a daily snack & beverage that may be enjoyed during the break. After break the groups will switch to the other studio.

  • Departure: Students will be dismissed at 12:30pm daily. 
  • Dress Accordingly: Each young artist will be working with a wide variety of materials, some of which may stain clothing. Please have artists dress accordingly or bring a smock. Some aprons are available on site. White shoes & clothes not recommended.
