Classes on Paperarts and Everything Else

NOTE: The Craft Center Does Not Offer Classes in the Summer, but we've left the listings up to give you an idea of what will be coming up in Fall of 2024!

Thanks in part to community donations of materials, we have a Paper-Crafts area in the craft center set up with glue, scissors, markers, card-making paper, a Cricut Air, etc. that you can drop in and use. In addition we have watercolor paint, acrylic paint, drawing materials, etc., available for student use. Plus nice big tables to spread out, work alongside friends or find a quiet space to get into the creative zone.  Our front desk staff can assist you with your options.

Students can sign up starting for Spring 2024 classes on April 1st         Staff, Faculty, and Adult Public can sign up starting April 8th

Painting with Ian

Thursdays  5:30-8pm  April 18 - May 23

OSU fee paying student Fee: $60

Non-student Class Fee: $120

Fall in love with painting! This class will primarily focus on acrylic paint as you learn about composition, how to mix colors, under-paint, layer and apply other techniques to enhance your paintings.  Acrylic paint is an accessible medium, uses no solvents, dries fast, and has flexibility in how it can be used.   

Basic Drawing with Kayna

Mondays 3-5:30  April 15 - May 20

Fee Paying Student Class Fee: $50

Instructor: Kayna Smith (she/her)

Be guided in drawing basics like line quality, shading, composition, and other drawing techniques. This relaxing class will help you build your drawing skill set, broaden how you see and connect to the visual world and learn tips to aid you in achieving desired effects. Materials will be provided for the class.

Scientific Illustration with SueZeev

Tuesdays 6-8:30  April 16 - May 21

Fee Paying Student Class Fee: $60

Non-student Class Fee: $95

Instructor: SueZeev Ranseen (they/them)

This class will cover topics in illustration, botany, animals, anatomy, and careful observation. Be guided by a scientist as you learn a variety of drawing techniques to capture flora & fauna. Materials will be provided for the class.
