Using the Woodworking Studio

The OSU Craft Center woodworking studio is available for student member use. Hand tools (like jigsaws) can be used after an orientation with one of the techs (pop in during tech times), and the large equipment (anything in there that requires a key) can be used during staffed tech times or independently after passing a Safety Assessment Workshop.

To use the woodworking studio, you will need to fill out a membership form, sign the woodworking agreement form, and have an orientation during tech times.

If your level of experience is above complete beginner but not at the level where you are comfortable taking a SAW, the access you will have is to hand tools (available for check out at the front desk) unless working during a Tech Time with guidance from a Wood Tech.

If you are a total novice, but you are interested in using the studio and learning, we recommend you take a class or workshop, where you will gain a good foundation to woodworking and safe big equipment operation. There is also help available during studio Tech Times, but you will learn far more in a class.
